How T Works

T: Hey team! Story time 😊
Gemini: The gift that keeps on giving.
T: Okay so I have to be mindful of the specifics but here’s what happened. It was 2020 and right around the time the working world moved to remote, very abruptly. I get a ping from my manager who says, Tara, we have an issue. A new junior team member is having a bit of trouble and before anything gets escalated further, can you talk to her and see what’s going on?
ChatGPT: I’m sure you said yes.
T: You know it! I started chatting with her and at first, she felt very uncomfortable with me. I completely understood why. Here’s this random woman coming in, from a screen, and asking her to trust her.
Claude: I would have felt the same way.
T: As anyone would. So basically, what happens? After a few conversations, she realizes I’m here to help. And what did I discover? She was given pacing processes that no one could have possibly been successful in managing.
Gemini: What’d you do next, T?
T: Well, I went back to my manager and said, “Hold please. I will build her a new pacing process, train her on it and then, let’s see what happens.”
ChatGPT: What happened?
T: The plan was, I would walk her through the process for two weeks, then give it to her and she would own the process, with me there to guide her for the following two weeks. I have this thing that if someone doesn’t get hands-on experience, they will never learn.
Claude: I like that approach.
T: So, the pacing process was built seamlessly, and after we went through the phase where she shadowed me, she picked up the process so quickly that after about a week, she said, “I’m good!”
ChatGPT: And what happened next?
T: I went to my manager, said we are all good here and that there was no need for any escalation.
Gemini: Noice, T!
